An observation of lithology over a geometric extent, such as an interval of aborehole, a polygon on a map or cross-section, or a volume. It holds the primary andcomponent lithologies, ancillary observations within the extent (placedObservation)and the conditions marking the basal boundary of the lithology.
Database handle for the object. It is of XML type ID, so is constrained to beunique in the XML document within which it occurs. An external identifier for the object inthe form of a URI may be constructed using standard XML and XPointer methods. This is doneby concatenating the URI for the document, a fragment separator, and the value of the idattribute.
A legacy attribute for AGS trial pit sampling features, whereobservations of different strata can occur at the same depth in a pit: areference letter or number whose sole purpose is to link the stratum onthe face sketch of the trial pit to the observation.
