A soil or rock unit defined primarily by the value, or a range of values, of one ormore physical or engineering properties; the criteria that distinguish units dependon the engineering application. The three-dimensional body of a unit, if one isgiven, is held by the inherited diggs:location property, which admits anydiggs:AbstractGeometry, for example a diggs:SurfaceBoundedSolid, diggs:Solid, diggs:MultiSolid or diggs:CompositeSolid.
Database handle for the object. It is of XML type ID, so is constrained to beunique in the XML document within which it occurs. An external identifier for the object inthe form of a URI may be constructed using standard XML and XPointer methods. This is doneby concatenating the URI for the document, a fragment separator, and the value of the idattribute.
A legacy attribute for AGS trial pit sampling features, whereobservations of different strata can occur at the same depth in a pit: areference letter or number whose sole purpose is to link the stratum onthe face sketch of the trial pit to the observation.
